So now you’re fired up and ready to go when it comes to SEO. But where do you start? You could Google “small business SEO” and plenty of options will spring to the top of the list. But how do you know which is the best option for your business? Look for an SEO service that is willing to work with you and your budget. Stay away from partners who offer an “all-or-nothing” solution. If the cost is outside of your budget, work with a company that can craft a solution that works for your budget and your quarterly cash flow.

This is a great advice Jeremy. I should know. I am a SEO consultant.

I especially like "SEO is not difficult to understand, but it does involve lots of little pieces." You're absolutely right and too many consultants make out like it's too complicated for a lay person to understand. Nonsense! Would you take that from your mechanic, lawyer or doctor? Of course not. The more you know, the better decisions you can make.

One thing I will add is that it helps to know if a consultant has a SEO process. If they have a process, the chances are they are concerned about efficiency and quality because a process is an enabler for both. Ask if they have a process and if they'd be willing to share it with you before you make a hiring decision.
