Dr. Bryan is a seasoned, Senior Consultant with 36 years of broad-based experience in business consulting to a broad range of clients. His extensive experience includes management of projects at multiple simultaneous locations; performance assessments and lean projects in mining, manufacturing, plastic and glass fiber extrusion, telecommunications, and service industries and for several large healthcare organizations, government agencies, insurance and financial institutions; customer service, sales, and call center operations; management training development and delivery; organizational behavior and development; and account development for three international consulting firms. John is considered fluent in Spanish and has studied Korean, Russian, French, and Kiswahili.

John has worked on numerous projects involving Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Business Process Engineering, Pull Scheduling, SWOT analyses, current state analyses, gap analysis, future state design, quality improvement implementations. Aside from performance improvement, John also has significant experience in mentoring entrepreneurs and assisting startups with business and strategic planning, financial forecasts, and capital investment. He has started four businesses as an entrepreneur and mentored more than 60 entrepresneurs in helping them launch and grow their businesses.

John’s varied client work environments include an iron ore mine in Michigan; a gold mine in Chile and in Ghana; fiberglass, textile and tobacco processing plants, and numerous manufacturing companies and “white collar” environments. John’s experience also includes teaching statistical quality and process control for AT&T’s Western Electric subsidiary and for several consulting firms.

Having successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in January 2009, John received his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree at University of Phoenix in April 2009. John is preparing three books: an exploration of the type of leadership required in the current global economic environment, a review of the leadership roles and practices required in geographic regions transitioning from conflict through post-conflict toward sustainable peace, and a review of the leadership roles and practices required in organizations emerging from stressful environments including mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, and significant strategic change. John is currently preparing a curriculum for leaders transitioning from conflict to post-conflict and drafting a strategic planning process for Uganda’s post-conflict recovery, the latter based on one of the largest studies of leadership ever conducted, with more than 12,000 questionnaire respondents.

John was Chair of the Board of Alliance for African Assistance, a refugee resettlement and relief organization based in San Diego, CA, from 2004 through 2019. Alliance provides a broad range of services to San Diego’s refugee community and provides private and public organizations with translation services in nearly 100 languages as one way to help refugees lead self-sustaining lives. As Chair of Alliance’s Board since 1994, John was instrumental in negotiating with the United Nations for the resettlement of thousands of refugees housed at Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp for up to 16 years. John played a key role in developing a community clinic in San Diego’s City Heights area, home to a large number of San Diego’s resettled refugees.
